WOW – November 6, 2013

Well it’s been two month since I have posted to my blog.  It’s also been at least six weeks since I have sewed even one stich.  My oldest son Ian moved in to his condo at the end of September and the whole family helped him and it went relatively smooth. So the beginning of October I started remodeling his room to be my new sewing studio.  I had a contractor install a new window and an electrician put in 14 lights.  I will never have a hard time seeing again.  Next my husband and dad installed crown molding and my husband and myself painted.  Tomorrow is the big day the new carpet gets installed and that is the last thing that needs to be done before I can move in.  Now my daughter Chloe and I will not be sharing rooms anymore she will continue to have the room downstairs and I will be moving upstairs.

These are some before and during photos I will post the after photos next week.  Then I will have to make up all that sewing that I wasn’t doing the last six weeks.

Have a great week!

Regards,

Lisa

WOW – September 4, 2013

Can’t believe its September already. This year has gone so fast.  Ian and I have our birthdays in a week and you know you are getting old when your son turns 23 and is buying his own place.  We had a meeting yesterday with the loan officer and everything is approved and now just has to go to escrow.  Ian and I have accomplished so much in the last three weeks.  The closing is September 26th and he will be moving in on the 28th.
I found a photo on my camera of the dress that I made Catherine.  It was not complete when I took this you can see pins on her shoulders but better than no photo.

I still managed to get quite a bit of sewing done this week.  I finished the fourth Chateau Hexagon block.  It came in the mail on Saturday and I had it done before I went to bed that night couldn’t help myself.

I have made a little progress on the second block to my house quilt. Sill quite a lot of sewing to do on this one.

Monday my husband went fishing and the kids went to PAX so I had the house to myself and I decided to put the top together for my Betsy’s Closet quit.  I forgot how nice the fabrics I picked were they have been sitting in a bin waiting to be made in to something for months now.  This photo is kind of strange because I had it over another quilt on my design wall.  I will have to take better photos of this it’s so cute.

Lastly my Dr. Who quit center is complete and I started working on the border.

I wanted to share with you a few photos of my daughter Chloe.  She made this costume for PAX this weekend.  It’s the character Alice form a video game.  The blood is just paint no real killing going on.  I think she did such a great job making this character come to life. I took the close up of her so you could see her eyes she used contacts to make her eyes a different color.

Ok everyone have a wonderful week.  I’m going crazy over everyone’s Love Entwined quits.

Regards,

Lisa

WOW – August 27, 2013

I have missed the last three weeks of WOW posts so I’m excited to show everyone what I have been up to.   Thing around my house has been crazy.  My son Ian that just started his new job decided to see if he could get a loan and buy a condominium.  The last three weeks I have been helping him through the process.  He has been approved and found a condo. Needless to say we have had one appointment after another taking up so much of my time.  I’m really proud of how responsible and motivated he is if everything goes according to plane he will move in end of September.

I have done a lot of sewing the last three weeks.  I finished Catherine’s quilt and everyone loves it most importantly Catherine.

I also made Catherine a dress for the Renaissance Festival last weekend and I helped my daughter get her new dress done.  We sewed one day for fourteen hours straight.  Everyone looked great at the festival but they forgot to take photos.
I finished the third Chateau Hexagon block.

I also finished the Yoko Saitos block that I started months ago.  I have most of the second one ready to start stitching.

Love everyone’s Love Entwined progress wish I have started mine already.  Hopefully soon.

Regards,

Lisa

WOW July 31, 2013

The month is over and boy did it go fast it feels like I just got back from vacation but that was almost a month ago.  I have had another busy week at work and with my family.  My daughter Chloe started her new job last week as a technical designer at a company called Certified Jeans working on a new line of skirts and dresses.  My son Ian came home from Korea last Saturday night and started this Monday at his new job at Amazon as a computer engineer. So many new experiences for both of them I’m really proud that they are both employed so shortly after graduation.
This week I finished the tenth and eleventh Dr. Who Block.

I also got about 60% of the quilting done on Catherin’s quilt.  Hopefully next week I will be showing you a completed quilt.

I also finished a gift for a friend but I will have to show it to you at a later date because I think she reads my blog.

Have a wonderful week!

Regards,

Lisa

WOW July 24, 2013

Last week was really wonderful; we unexpectedly had two Chinese students stay with us for the week.  The family they were going to stay with backed out and we were asked last minute if we could host them.  We spent all week showing them all over the greater Seattle area.  I’s amazing they had never been swimming or in a pool so be took them swimming, to Lake Washington, Snoqualmie Falls and of course to our mall they really wanted to shop.  We saw Shakespeare in the park and introduced them to so many foods they had never eaten before.  You really forget how blessed we are to live in America and how different it is for someone living in China.  They had so much fun they did not want to leave.
Jin and Tinkel

Jeff, Jin, Tinkel and Me
Needless to say I did not get much sewing done this week.  I did finish my second Chateau Hexagon block.

I also finished an embroidery border for my Betty’s closet quilt that I have been working on for months.  I can actually put the top together now when I have time.

I really have to stay focused on finishing Catherin’s quilt (Lone Star).  I went to make the back last night and realized that I did not have enough fabric for the back.  So Catherin, Chloe and I headed off to the fabric store and picked out a coordinating fabric. Then we went out to dinner and to Menchie’s (frozen yogurt) I was very nice to spend time with just my girls. Tonight I’m planning to put the back together and start basting.

Lastly started the tenth Dr. Who block only three more to go.

Hope everyone has a wonder week.

Regards

Lisa

WOW July 17, 2013

I’m very happy to be posting to my blog today.  Last week I was so busy with work that I did not have time to blog.  My vacation was wonderful and Maui is lovely.  The five of us really enjoyed our time together and had so many great adventures.   I will show you a few of the really great photos that I took.

I have been getting quite a bit of sewing done over the last ten day.  I finished my first block of Chateau Hexagon.  This is really sweet I’m almost done with the second on just need a few more hours on it.
I also have gotten all caught up on the Dr. Who Stich-a-long I have all nine blocks stitched and pieced together.

Lastly I have completed the lone start quilt top that I have been making for my son’s girlfriend for her birthday.  I hope to start quilting it by the weekend.

I’m trying to work really hard to get projects done that have deadlines so I can start on Esther’s Love Entwined quilt.  I have really enjoyed seeing everyone’s progress and I’m hoping to start next month.

WOW June 19, 2013

Today my blog post is extra special because this is my oldest work-in-progress and I’m very proud of my progress.  Last Saturday my two oldest children graduated from college. My son Ian (22) graduated from the University of Washington with a bachelor in computer engineering.  My daughter Chloe (19) graduated from Seattle Center with an associated in applied science in garment apparel design and development.  Needless to say I’m so proud of them my heart could burst out of my chest.  I love them both so much no mother could ask for better children.

Most of last week was dedicated to helping my daughter with her final line presentation she did a great job.  Below are the photos of the display.  I will post more photos from the photo shot with the model soon.

The other big task I has this week was preparing all the food for the graduation party Sunday.  I made so many meatballs & stuffed shells we had about 45 guests and the party was really fun.

The only sewing that I managed to get done was my fifth Dr. Who block.

We are off to Hawaii in three day for a family vacation to celebrate our three kid’s great accomplishments.  I will not have a WOW post next week because we will be gone and I’m not bringing a computer.  I just what to say how excited I am for Ester’s new BOM and all the great energy it’s created.  Hopefully the first instructions will be out by the time I get back.

Regards

Lisa
