WOW – December 3, 2014

The weather has been cold and clear for the last five days.  We had snow the day after thanksgiving witch is rare in our neck of the woods.  Things should start warming up soon.

The last few weeks I have been working on three projects the first is our challenge quilt for the quilt show.  I have my background complete and the heart. I will be embroidering words over the white section and then some additional hearts and embroidery. Hopefully my vision will work out in the end.  It looks really loud right now.

The other project that has been occupying my time is this wool and cotton quilt that I started about nine months ago it was part of a class that I took through my quilt guild.  I ran out of the green thread that I was using for the leaves so I’m putting this on the back burner for a while until the thread comes.

Lastly I’m making good progress on my Annabelle’s Adventures quilt.  These are the two latest block that I have finished. These blocks are just so sweet hard not to love them.

I hope everyone had a blessed Thanksgiving mine was really nice.  My mom hosted this year so I had very little to do.

WOW November 19, 2014

Well it’s been since this summer when I last posted on my blog.  Seems like life has just been so busy. I have been sewing like crazy lately even with my busy schedule just not writing about it.

I have quite a few things to share with you. I have been trying all year to finish up some of my very old UFO’s.  This quilt was started over two years ago.  It was paper pieced from a jelly roll it’s soft and feminine and I’m glad that I finished it.  This quilt will be finding a home with my cousin.

Next I finished my Chateau Hexagon quilt this is just a wonderful design and I could not love it more. It’s hanging in my family room.  I did a lot of eco quilting around the embroidery.  I always have a hard time deciding what to do around embroidery, but I like the way this turned out.

Thirdly I finished my Betsy’s Closet quilt I started this two years ago everyone was stitching this together I completed the block quickly but then decided to do an embroidery border that took me quite some time to complete.  Then it sat for the last year waiting to be quilted. Now that it’s complete it’s hanging in my sewing room and I can really enjoy this. The back ground quilting took forever but I’m glad that I did the small basket weave design.

Finally I started a new quilt Annabelle’s Adventures this is designed by a fellow blogger Michele Marll.  I’m using this pattern to teach two friend of mine how to do applique.   I just have the first three done and my students are still working on the first block.  I hope to get started on the next three soon.

Well I’m so happy to post some of my completed work I hope you all have a great week.

WOW July 15, 2014

I finished the make-up bag for my mother and she really liked the way it turned out.

I have been meaning to share these two blocks I made.   It’s a block exchange I’m involved in at the end of the year I will receive 12 more blocks made for me.

Sunday I went hiking with my husband, son and nephew.  It was a beautiful day we had lots of fun.

WOW – July 9, 2014

This has been a very busy week I managed to get a little sewing done.  I finished the embroidery on the front of the bag I’m making and I hand quilted it.  This is the first time I have ever hand quilted it’s a lot harder than it looks.   I pieced the back of the bag and machine quilted it.  Now I can start the construction of the little make-up bag.

Hope you all have a great week our weather is wonderful right now so what more could I ask for.

WOW – July 2, 2014

The weather in Seattle has been wonderful the last few days, and the forecast looks great for the next week as well.  My husband took the top of our Jeep so we will be flying topless for a while.

I have been doing quite a bit of sewing the last few weeks. I started this quilt in December and pieced the first six blocks out of 20 and then it sat.  I decided I should put some work in on it.  I finished all 20 blocks and now I have to do the sashing.  Maybe I will finish this before the end of the year.

I made a bunch of make-up bags last month and my mom expressed her desire to have one so I just started this special one for her.  I still have some more stitching to do before I can start the construction of the bag.  I think she will like this.

Hope everyone in the States has a wonderful 4th of July.

WOW – June 11, 2014

This time of year is always so busy with graduations and the end of the school year.  It seems like we are going to something every night of the week. I’m really looking forward to the summer and less on my calendar.  I have been doing quite a bit of sewing between track banquets and band concerts. This first thing I want to show you is the finished quilt for my son’s girlfriend she is graduating from Lynnwood High School.  She is very much into biology and will be going to university to be a veterinarian. I finished this about two weeks ago but just did not get aground to taking any photos.

closes up of the quilting
This is the label of the quilt I named it Megangitis and designed a virus to match the owner. Making quilts like this is my favorite thing to do.  I love when the design is all mine and I’ve captured the recipient this well.

This last week I went crazy making little make up bags.  I have so many birthdays and graduation party to go to I decided to make a little bag for everyone.  They are perfect to hold a gift card or money or just by themselves for a personal gift.

Lastly last night I made chocolate salted caramel cupcakes we will be eating them tonight for my daughters boyfriend’s birthday. She made a big lasagna for dinner so we will be having a feast tonight.

I have the busiest week to come. Friday is my daughter-in –law to be university graduation and Saturday is her party.  Sunday I will be having my family over for Father’s day brunch and then going to Megan’s graduation party.  Well wish me luck with everything.

Have a wonderful week.

WOW – April 23, 2014

I have two items to share this week.  I finished the top for Megan’s quilt.  I’m going on vacation on Friday so I will be quilting this when I get back.

Second I finished this block. It’s defiantly going slow I think it will take me three years to finish this quilt at the rate I’m going.

Well I’m off to Maui can’t wait for the warm weather.
