WOW – October 6th 2015

Hard to believe it’s already October this summer went by so fast without even one blog post.  My oldest son was married on July 11 and everything went wonderful.  We also started a major remodeled of our home six weeks ago.  We have been without a kitchen for over three weeks and it should be at least three more before we have appliances and water and another four weeks until everything is finished.  We are trying to not go crazy living in a mess and cooking only items that can be microwaved.  This week we are staying with my parents because the hard wood floors and being finished.

I have been doing quite a bit of sewing this last month my sewing room is one of the few rooms not being affected by this remodel.

I finally finished my Quick Curve Ruler quilt that I made two years ago but never quilted.  It always feel good to finish a UFO.  I like the way it turned out and my daughter has claimed it for her own.

Next I made a very simple baby quilt for one of my son’s friends that just had a baby.  This was very fast made from a charm pack.

My niece is expecting a little boy in January and I wanted to make something more modern so is decided to make this cute fox pattern.  I made a sample big block with scrap flannel that I had left over from a big bed quilt I made for my son. I will be giving this one to the children’s shelter that my guild donates to.

This is the finished quilt for my niece I really love the way it turned out and the quilting is very soft and supple. The color combo’s really work.

Now I have to start designing a new baby quilt for dear friends of my husband and I they are having a little girl in March.  I want to do something really special for them so as soon as I can go back home I will start working on a design for this.

Hope everyone has a wonderful week.

WOW – June 24, 2015

This week is going so fast hard to believe its Wednesday already.  My husband has been out of town all week for work so I have been doing some mindless sewing whale watching Orange is the New Black. Have to say I’m a little addicted to that show right now.  I’m a few episodes into the second season.

So when I first started quilting four years ago I bought so many book and one of them was The Civil War Sewing Circle.  I feel in love with this book and as a new quilter I got very excited and signed to buy kits for many of the quilts in the book.  That being said I never made one of them so last Sunday I pulled out one of the kits for a doll quilt and started sewing it was fun to make a quilt that you could finish in a day so then Monday and last night I made two more.  They are so fun and I’m enjoying using these fabrics I normally don’t use. I think I still have three more of these kits someday I will finish all of them.

Saturday my husband and I drove to Olympia to meet my daughter and her boyfriend at the SCA event they were attending.  We had fun and meet some really nice people and got to where our new dresses.   I have included a close up of the neck line you can see the chemise I made to go under it.  Chloe patterned the collars to be the same so just the trim would show.  We have a store that sells the best trims in Seattle and the one I used was vintage.

I’m down to only two weeks before my son’s wedding so I might not be doing much sewing we will see it’s hard for me to stay out of my sewing room.

Have a wonderful week.

Lisa

Wow – June 17, 2015

The last few week my daughter and I have been sewing like mad women. She is a member of the SCA and has been trying to get a few garments done for her boyfriend and herself for the summer events they have been attending.  We have made seven garments so far and I’m working on two more for myself.

The green dress if for my daughter the wool one we made her was to hot so we opted for some really nice linen with a crochet trim.  The blue dress is for me I still need to get the sleeves done and hem and lace. I also will be making a slip to go with it tonight.  I have to have this all done by Saturday for an event I'm going to.  I really love the way the dress is turning out.

We are also working on new dresses for the Renaissance Fair in August and one of our friends that doesn't sew wanted an outfit. We have been teaching her and she finished her skirt and I have been making the bodice for her it’s a little too complicated for a beginner.  I’m close to being done but it’s on hold until I get that blue dress done. (by the way it's silk so pretty)

Lastly I have a quit to show everyone.  I finished this about three weeks ago for a friend of my daughter that is having a baby girl.  I love this quilt so much I hate to give it away.  Dose that happen to any of you?

Well have a wonderful week.

WOW June 3, 2015

I haven’t posted to my blog in so long somehow I seem to run out of time every week.  I have been really busy with work, sewing and my son’s upcoming wedding.

The first thing I want to share is my In Full Bloom quit.  I was unable to show photos of this until the pattern was published.  I finished this in February in time to put it in my quilt show.

I hosted a bridal shower for my daughter-in-law to be the party was wonderful and everyone had a lot of fun.  I thought I would share the cake I made.  It was so yummy!!!

This is the challenge quilt that I made for the quilt show in March.

WOW – February 3, 2015

I’m feeling really proud of myself I’m posting to my blog two weeks in a row!  Well this weekend was very disappointing for all the 12th men hear in Seattle but that being said we are still really proud of our Seahawks.

I had another productive week of sewing I finished another charity quilt for Safe Place this one I only did the quilting.  This quilt top was donated to my quilt guild so I volunteered to finish it. Its needle turn, embroidery and fabric painting very cute.  I did a simple all over quilting and something different inside each of the applique blocks. I had the perfect fabric for the binding little pink and red cherries.

This is the third and fourth block of my Project of Doom quilt. So far I’m keeping up with the block a week schedule.

Lastly I have been working on finishing all my UFO I started this quilt December 2013 I still needed put all the blocks together.  I should have this top ready to quilt this week not sure when I will quilt it but hopefully in the next few weeks.

Have a wonderful week!

WOW – January 27, 2015

Seattle weather has been absolutely wonderful it felt like spring yesterday the sun was out and the view out my office window of Lake Union was amazing.  Well again it’s been many week since I have posted on my blog.  I have accomplished quite a lot of sewing in the last month.  I finished my Sue Spargo wool quilt and it’s all ready for the quilt show in March. I can’t show any photos of this quilt yet because Sue has not published the pattern she expects this to happen in April so as soon as I’m able I will show you photos. I’m really proud of this quilt it was so many hours of work over the last year.

I completed three more blocks of my Annabelle’s Adventures quilt only two more to go I have to wait until next week to get the final two patterns.

I started a new quilt that I have wanted to make for over two years I even purchased some fabric for this quilt and never stated.  The original quit was a sew a long on Fandom in Stitches blog in 2011 to make a wonderful Harry Potter quilt.  I discovered it after it was done but saved all the patterns.  Well in December Fandom in Stitches announced they would be doing this sew a long again due to so many people requesting it. So I decided this was my time to start this awesome quit.  I have finished the first two blocks except I still have a little embroidery on the second block to the purple book.   I still have some work to do on the third block I will show you when it’s done.

Lastly I made two charity quits for Safe Place (It’s a local children’s shelter for when children are taken away from the home in crisis and there is no foster home to place them in.)

Hope everyone has a wonderful productive week!
