WOW February 24, 2016

As always it seems like every week goes so fast.  I spent most of my week working on my second Sue Spargo block.  I find I’m just obsessed with these as soon as I start them and can’t seem to stop until I’m done.

I also worked on two pillows for my friend that’s having a baby to decorate the baby’s room these will look nice on the glider.  This first one is finished and the second one is quilted but needs to be sewn to make the pillow.  I should get the pillow forms by the end of the week so I will take photos when they are stuffed.

We also had her baby shower this weekend and she loved her quilt so that was really nice to see her reaction.  Her mother-in-law hosted the shower and I made the cake I was really happy with the way it turned out yummy and beautiful at the same time. I love making these naked cakes with fresh flowers so much easier then sugar flowers and fondant.

Inside of the Cake so Yummy Vanilla sour cream cake, pastry cream, cream cheese frosting and fresh fruit.

Hope everyone has a wonderful week.

WoW February 16, 2016

So again my week was devoted to my Harry Potter quilt.  I have completed quite a few more blocks.  Everyone keeps asking me who are you making this for?  Thinking that I will say for some child and I just respond it’s for me!!!

I also have good/bad personal news my daughter bought a condo and will be moving out next month.  I’m so happy and proud of her she has saved and worked so hard but on the other hand my baby, best friend and sewing partner is leaving me.  I know she is only moving seven miles away I but I will miss having breakfast together before work and just the closeness from being in the same house.  On the other hand I will have a lot more room in my house so that will be good.
Hope everyone has a wonderful week.

WOW February 10, 2016

I finished the quilt that I was working on for the quilt show but unfortunately I did not get a photo yet so I will have to show you next week.  Getting that done freed me up to work on my Harry Potter quilt that I started about a year ago and it has been really neglected.  I’m excited to work on it again and I’m hoping that I can finish it this year.  These are the blocks that I finished the last two weeks.

This is my second block for the Jennifer Reynold BOM.

WOW – January 27, 2015

Last Friday my first Block came for this year’s Sue Spargo BOM so I stitched all weekend and during my lunch breaks at work I’m about 90 percent done.  I wish I could show you a photo but you have to agree not to put photos on blogs or social media until the pattern is published.  It’s just wonderful like everything else she does.  Next year I will be able to show you when it’s all done.

I made two receiving blankets for gifts this week.  I love making these they take about an hour and turn out so nice.

I pin basted and marked the quilt I have been working on since October for my son’s girlfriend.  I’m also putting this in our quilt show so I have to get it done by the end of February.  Hopefully I will have it done by next week’s WOW might be wishful thinking.

Back of the quilt

I have loved seeing everyone’s Hazel blocks on Facebook!! Too bad I don’t have time to make that quilt I think it will be lovely, but man do I have too many projects going right now.

Hope everyone has a great week!

WOW January 19, 2016

I have had a very productive sewing week yesterday was Martin Luther King Jr. day and I had the day off from work so I spent the all day Sunday and Monday sewing that doesn’t happen that often.   I have been working on a baby quilt for a very dear friend she picked the fabric out of my stash but other than that the quilt will be a surprise and I will give it to her at her baby shower in about three week.  She also wanted me to teach her to sew so I decided that a matching bed skirt for the crib was an easy project that we could accomplish.  You forget how long it takes to get anything done when you are teaching someone and having them do all of it so they can really learn.  We spent about 5 hours on Saturday and got the bed skirt a little over half done.  She is doing a good job I’m having her line it so it has a more substantial look to it. We are also going to make some bomber pads too.

I also started a new BOM from Jenny Reynold of Elfantz Designs this will be sweet.  This photo shows my first block and the other fabric I'm going to use for the sashing and the border.  I have had this fabric for a white now just itching for some project that would do it justice. I think this is it.

Hope everyone has a wonderful week!

WOW – January 13, 2016

My first blog post of 2016!  I’m hoping this year to take time to post to my blog. Our family has had a very nice holiday season and we finally finished our house remodel what a burden off our shoulders.  As nice as it is to have the house all new cooking all your meals on a camp stove in the garage really sucks.  Everything turned out great and we are all getting use to the differences.

I have been sewing quite a bit over the last few months with a few things to share with you.  First I made a small bag for my husband to give a coworker for her birthday.  I love the trim.

Next over the New Year’s weekend I made myself a new sewing bag.  This was the first time I used this pattern and I would do a few things differently but overall I’m really happy with how it turned out and it was a great use for this fabric I had just purchased.

Well I just wanted to say I’m really happy that Esther’s group has moved to Facebook.  So much easier to communicate with people real-time. Hope everyone has a wonderful week.

God Bless

WOW – October 6th 2015

Hard to believe it’s already October this summer went by so fast without even one blog post.  My oldest son was married on July 11 and everything went wonderful.  We also started a major remodeled of our home six weeks ago.  We have been without a kitchen for over three weeks and it should be at least three more before we have appliances and water and another four weeks until everything is finished.  We are trying to not go crazy living in a mess and cooking only items that can be microwaved.  This week we are staying with my parents because the hard wood floors and being finished.

I have been doing quite a bit of sewing this last month my sewing room is one of the few rooms not being affected by this remodel.

I finally finished my Quick Curve Ruler quilt that I made two years ago but never quilted.  It always feel good to finish a UFO.  I like the way it turned out and my daughter has claimed it for her own.

Next I made a very simple baby quilt for one of my son’s friends that just had a baby.  This was very fast made from a charm pack.

My niece is expecting a little boy in January and I wanted to make something more modern so is decided to make this cute fox pattern.  I made a sample big block with scrap flannel that I had left over from a big bed quilt I made for my son. I will be giving this one to the children’s shelter that my guild donates to.

This is the finished quilt for my niece I really love the way it turned out and the quilting is very soft and supple. The color combo’s really work.

Now I have to start designing a new baby quilt for dear friends of my husband and I they are having a little girl in March.  I want to do something really special for them so as soon as I can go back home I will start working on a design for this.

Hope everyone has a wonderful week.
