WOW – January 30, 2013

I’m on a roll trying to get all four quilts done for the quilt show.  I almost have the third one done.  I tried pin basting with the method that Ester talks about on her blog.  I did not get the wood boards perfectly lined up, but I understand what I did wrong and how to fix it.  That being said even with my mistakes it was the best basting I have ever done perfectly flat on both sides.  I’m about 80% done with the quilting and I hope to finish in the next few days.

I also finished my quilt block that I’m giving for a gift.  I think it turned out cute.

WOW – January 23, 2013

I’m very excited to say I completed another quilt this week.  Two down two to go.  This is my completed Fernhill quilt.  I had a hard time quilting around the yoyo’s next time I will put them on after I quilt and save myself a lot of aggravation.  For the most part I’m happy with the way this turned out.  I decided to hang it in my office at work and everyone likes it.

Last night I started working on a little block that I will be giving to our quilt club president as a thank you gift. Doesn’t look like much now but it will be two birds on a cloth-line holing up a quilt.

Have a great week,

Lisa

Late WOW

I was not able to post my WOW on Wednesday but I figure better late then not at all.  I need to start off by giving a warning if you are a Quilters Anonymous Member please do not read on because I’m going to be showing my Challenge quilt for the quilt show.

I spent all my sewing time this week on two projects first I made another little make up bag for one of my daughters friends. She is a big My Little Pony fan. Hard to believe so many grown adults watch that show. So I ordered some MLP fabric from Spoonflower for the lining and appliquéd the outside of the bag with the cutie mark (I feel silly just saying that). Not really impressed with Spoonflower the repeats were not perfectly lined up.

I registered four quilts for the Quilters Anonymous quilt show in March and none of them were done at the time. Now I have one done!!!! This is called "Time and Relative Dimension in Space”.  This is my favorite quilt I have made to date.  I have been a big Dr. Who fan for over 30 years and it was fun to do something so self-indulgent.

The challenge rules were to make a quilt with the theme “Other Worldly” and we were given a 4 inch piece of fabric that had to be used in the quilt without cutting it in a recognizable way. So if you look at the center of the vortex you will see a blue fabric that has kind of a marbled look that was the fabric.  I decided to do reverse applique so I did not cut it.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Regards,
Lisa

WOW January 9, 2013

I’m very excited to do my first WOW post of 2013.  I feel like I have been so bad at keeping up on posting my work in progresses lately and showing you thing long after I finished them. I’m actually showing you what I did this week.
So I got my sewing machine back yesterday and finished up three of the little bags I was working on.  I plan to make more of these they are so fun and very fast compared to everything else that I find myself doing.

This weekend I spent hand sewing on a project.  I’m going to show you just a peek at it because it’s a challenge quilt for my local quilt show.  I will have to show you the finished quilt after the show.  I don’t think I have ever had as much fun on a project as this one.  Do you know what this is?

Have a great week,
Regards,
Lisa

Christmas Sewing

I thought I would share the stocking and a few little bags I made the week before Christmas.  It was so fun to do a small project and have a little instant gratification.

This is the Alice in Wonderland stocking that I made for Chloe.  I hand quilted with a hand dyed pearl cotton that I had been saving for something special.  Everything was done by hand expect for the actual stocking construction.

I made this bag to go with Chloe’s Christmas dress that she made for herself with the little bits of left over lace and velvet.
Lastly some little make-up bags.  I have four more in the works but my sewing machine started acting up and I had to bring it in for servicing.  I will finish them when I get my machine back.

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and a happy new year.
God bless,
Lisa
