WOW – April 1, 2014

Emerald City Comic Con was so much fun!  Saturday Chloe was not feeling well so we did not were our costumes until Sunday it turns out it was really good thing because we could not get from place to place without having someone want to take our photos.  In all honestly I don’t think I have ever had my photo taken so many times.  The wig was really uncomfortable it was so long and heavy that the wig clips were pulling my hair the entire time.  That’s ok it was worth it especially when the little kids would run up to us so excited to see Merida and her mom.

You can see we made all kinds of friends.

Well now I can get back to quilting.

Have a great week.

Lisa

WOW March 26, 2014

This is just a quick post to show everyone the Elinor costume.  For the most part the fit is perfect but the fabric is polyester and I don't like the drape but it's ok.  I'm glad it's finished tomorrow I have to style the wig.

Have a great week,

Lisa

WOW – March 19, 2014

I have finished a small project for my Cousins Birthday it’s about 14x12 I think it turned out nice the red binding ads a lot.

I started a new project last night I’m making a graduation quilt for my youngest son’s girlfriend she is really into science and is going to college to be a veterinarian.  So I’m making her a quilt with germ’s bacteria and viruses.  I know it should warm and fussy.  I have three blocks started I have fused and marked for embroidery.  Still lots to do on this but I have a deadline of June so I need to get busy.

Last weekend was my guild quilt show and it was so much fun.  I love talking to people about quilting what a weekend.  I need to focus most of my attention this week on finishing my Elinor costume. Hope everyone has a great week.

WOW – March 12, 2014

Always hard to believe its Wednesday again but hear it is.  I have been working hard on quite a few projects and also getting ready for our guild quilt show.  My daughter and I are working on costumes for Merida and Queen Elinor from the Disney movie Brave.  We drove to Portland to visit our favorite fabric store The Mills End for fashion fabric. Chloe doesn’t have my pattern done yet but I have sewn up quite a few muslin mock-up’s it’s almost there.  She has started sewing her dress and it should have it done by Friday then we can get going on mine.

Most of my efforts have been focused on finishing my Chateau Hexagon quilt. All I have to do now is sew the borders on and get it ready to quilt.

I also started the new Sue Spargo BOM I have the first two blocks done but can’t show them on my blog right now.  She has asked that we don’t post photo until the pattern is published.  I’s so fun and I can’t wait until I can show everyone.

I also finished the quilting on my Dr. Who quilt now my family is fighting over who gets it.

Have a great week.

Regards,

Lisa Mortell

WOW – February 5, 2014

I seem to start every blog post with I can’t believe how long it’s been since my last post. So I will skip that and show you what I have been up to.

My Chateau Hexagon I just all caught up. I love the way this is turning out.

Last time I posted I showed you all a stack of fabric and this is what it’s turning into.  I only have six blocks done so far and I little mistake in one that I have to rip out. See if you can find it.

My biggest new is that my oldest son has become engaged to his girlfriend.  He took us all out to dinner to celebrate last weekend it was really special. I’m very excited to have Catherine as my daughter in law.  She still have 6 more months before she graduates form college so they are planning to set a date then.

Well God bless

WOW December 11, 2013

I can’t believe that Christmas is so close I have been delinquent in posting anything to my blog.  I hosted Thanksgiving this year and had 25 guests.  We had a wonderful time but boy did I have a lot of cleaning to do after that may people.  My mom and I also made over 800 Biscotti.  We make them every year for Christmas for our friends and family.

So my husband and I made my design wall and we got I up I love having this.  I also hung a few of my quilts up and bought a TV so I can listen to the news. I just love my new room so much having all that room is wonderful.

I made this little bag for the birthday of a friend of mine in October.

I’m trying to get caught up on my Chateau Hexagon BOM I did the October and November’s blocks and I have the December’s block cut out but not sewn.

I started a baby quilt for my cousins step-son this weekend I have quite a bit done these are the fabrics I should have it finished for next week.

I’m plotting with this stack of fabric. Maybe next week I will get started with it.

WOW November 13, 2013

I’m so excited to show you my finished sewing room.  Last Friday the carpet was installed and my husband spent about 6 hours building the new bookshelves and buffet table that we purchased for my new room.  Then Saturday he installed the window blinds and helped me move all my furniture and boxes in to the room.  I spent form 5am to 8pm putting everything away and organizing. Sunday I was gone all day so I couldn't get finished until Monday witch was Veteran’s Day and I didn't have to work.  So another 12 hours on Monday and I’m so organized.  I still have to hang quilts on the walls and make and install my design wall hoping to do that next weekend.

I feel like the luckiest quilter in the world to have this great space to work and to be able to walk around my cutting table is wonderful before it was in a corner.  The other major improvement is having all my fabric in one place where I can see it, before it was in bins under my cutting table.  I have to say the only bad thing about that is now my husband knows how much fabric I really have. Oh well he will get over it.
Next week I will post a few more photos once I have decorated and hopefully I will actually have some sewing to show you.

Regards and have a good week.
