WOW - February 29, 2012

What a great day Leap year gives us extra time and I will take all I can get.  Well I’m not doing the happy dance. My quilting is not done.  When I decided to do eco quilting on the boarder of my AOTH quilt I figured it would look great.  Well it dose but considering that I had never done it before I had no idea how hard it was and how long it would take me.  I still have about 30% of the boarder to do.  I plane on working on it tonight maybe I will get it done with my extra day.

La Conner Quilt & Textile Museum

Last Friday I went with some of my quilter friend to the La Conner Quilt & Textile Museum in Washington State.  The featured quilt artist was Thom Atkins and the exhibit is called “Ten Years of Beaded Quilts” I just thought I would show everyone some of my favorites.  I ended up taking 60 photos it was so inspirational. Hope you enjoy!

Garden Steps

I have decided to start another project OMG what am I thinking.  But I think it will be two cute to pass up. It’s a stich and quilt along with Clover and Violet.

I decided that if I’m going to do this I have to shop from my stash.  It took a while to go through my fabric but I think I found the perfect combo.  I have had this fabric for over a year and I also had a white on white with flowers on it that works great.

I normally used embroidery floss (Weeks, Cosmo or DMC) so I think I will try the pearl cotton it’s always good to try something new.  This will be the only think I will have to purchase.

This will be a fun!

WOW February 22, 2012

I was too busy last week to post to my blog with work and quilting my life has been a little overwhelming. I’m very glad that we finished the IPO we had put so much time into at work.  Now I just have to get through my audit and all the partnership returns and then I’m home free.  My other big deadline is the quilt show that I’m putting my AOTH quilt in. I’m about half way done with the quilting and working like crazy on it.  I ran out of thread and had to wait 4 days for more to come.  The tread arrived today when I was at work and I got a few hours of quilting in before I had to go to my guild meeting.

Close up of the quilting
My quilt guild had a Valentine’s Day block exchange and this was what my 32 blocks looked like.

Now that I’m done with all my needle turn I started a new quilt a long that is embroidery so I have some hand work to do.  Just waiting for Esters new BOM to start.  I have done two of the blocks so far.

I also accomplished quite a bit on my Peaceful Pathways quilt while I was waiting for thread to arrive.  I have to get this done after the quilt show my nieces wedding is in July.

Well hopefully I will be showing you my finished AOTH quilt next week and I will be doing the happy dance.
Have a great week.

WOW- February 8, 2012

Another week gone by and I have been very busy.  I completely finished my Affairs of the Heart quilt top.  My quilt’s name is “Hearts in Paris” thanks to the wonderful Parisville fabric I used by Tulia Pink. While everyone was watching the Super Bowl on Sunday I was sewing the back to my quilt.  I had experimented with a pieced border originally but then decided the whole quilt needed to be needle turn.  So I used some of my experiments on the back and the left over material.  The back looks like a modern quilt.  My husband helped me get the quilt sandwiched yesterday now I have to wait for the thread that I ordered.  It should come in two days.
AOTH quilt back

Since I could not start quilting I decided to work on my Peaceful Pathways quilt for the next few days and see how much I can get done.  I finished all the corners last night that I still needed the hearts sewn on.   Tonight I will put the first border on, by next week I should have a lot more to show everyone on this quilt.

Have a wonderful week of sewing.
